This is a private organization that documents and arbitrates complaints between consumers and businesses. They’re a great source to check a company’s reputation and reliability.
American Moving & Storage Association
This is a private organization made up of various moving companies, designed to help both the customer and the moving company. They help decipher government regulations and can help with any questions regarding moving.
Federal Motor Carrier Safety
This federal agency governs all interstate moves. For long distance moves, call the FHA to verify each mover’s license and insurance coverage.
DOT
Department of Transportation license – Interstate motor carriers are required to hold authority to operate and to be registered with the Department of Transportation.
MC
Motor Carrier License – Licensing and insurance matters are being handled by the FHWA’s office of Motor Carriers.
